You booked a personal brand photo shoot or video shoot. Awesome! Now the question is: what do you wear?
What should you wear for your personal brand photo shoot/video shoot?
What you wear for your personal brand photo shoot or video shoot is a very important decision! Because what you wear affects how you feel and what the images and video look like. There are three major guidelines that we like to inform our clients about when it comes to what to wear for their personal brand photo shoot or video shoot. They are as follows:
3 Guidelines for What to Wear for your Personal Brand Photo Shoot / Video Shoot:

Stick to your brand colors for the majority of your outfits (if you can).

What should you wear for your personal brand photo shoot / video shoot based on your body type?
Did you know that there are five general body types? And based on your body type, there are certain styles and cuts of clothing that look best on you? That’s right my friend: not everyone looks good in a crop top and high-waisted jeans. Or an off-the shoulder dress.
Here are the five body types and general styling tips for each:
The Apple:
Apples tend to have a large bust and midsection with narrow hips and slender legs. For this body type, you want to draw attention off your midsection to give yourself more of an hourglass shape. Some of the ways to do this is to avoid horizontal stripes and wear bright colors on your lower body to draw more attention.
The Rectangle:
Rectangles tend to have an even ratio of bust, weight, and hips. For this body type, you want to enhance your waist, since you generally may have a lack of curves. Some of the ways to do this is to avoid tops that end at the waist, wear form-fitting clothes, and wear brighter colors on the upper and lower parts of the body.
The Hourglass:
Hourglasses tend to have a narrow waist with equal bust and hip measurements, and larger thighs. For this body type, you want to focus on balancing our body frame. Some of the ways to do this is to dress with simple and clean clothes and stay away from straight cuts and boxy clothing.
The Inverted Triangle:
Inverted triangles tend to have a broad shoulders and narrow hips. For this body type, you want to draw attention to your lower body to restore balance. Some of the ways to do this is to wear looser pant styles (wide leg and flare) and soften your shoulder line with solid shirt colors.
The Pear:
Pears tend to have large hips with slim arms and shoulders. For this body type, you want to focus the attention on your upper body. Some of the ways to do this is to wear fitted and bright colors on your upper body and choose clean/darker colors for your lower body.
Obviously, we have only covered the tip of the iceberg when it comes to body types. First, you need to research what your body type is, and then go into further detail about what kind of clothes best suit you. There are many body-type calculators out there. The one we recommend to our clients is here: https://www.calculator.net/body-type-calculator.html. Simply take measurements of your waist, hips, and bust and enter them into the calculator, and it will tell you what your body type is.
